Passenger Rights
All Milwaukee County Transit System passengers have a right to:
- A safe, comfortable and clean bus.
- A courteous and knowledgeable bus operator.
- Bus service that operates on schedule.
- Easy access to accurate schedule information.
- Have stops called at transfer points, major intersections, points of interest and other requested locations.
- A prompt response to all comments and concerns on all transit issues presented to MCTS.
- Be treated with dignity and respect by all MCTS employees.
Passenger Responsibilities
All Milwaukee County Transit System passengers are responsible for:
- Having exact change, paying the correct fare, and showing proper identification when required.
- Obeying all posted rules, regulations and ordinances.
- Respecting other passengers and the bus operator.
- Helping keep the bus clean and free of trash, spills and graffiti.
- Yielding designated seats to elderly and disabled passengers.
- Understanding that service delays may result from circumstances that are beyond the control of the operator such as traffic delays or inclement weather.
Bus Rules
MCTS buses belong to everyone, so please make an effort to help us take care of them.
- Smoking, drinking or eating is not allowed on the bus – it's against the law.
- Please take any trash with you. Do not drop trash on the floor or leave it on the seat.
- Audio devices are allowed with the use of earphones or headphones at a reduced volume. Other passengers should be unable to hear what you are playing.
- Keep the bus easy to move around in by keeping packages and other items like school books off the seats and out of the aisles.
- Help us accommodate more passengers by moving as far back in the bus as possible.
- Properly controlled service animals accompanying persons with disabilities are the only animals permitted on the bus.
- If you board with a stroller, make sure it's folded up and is out of the aisle.
- You will not be allowed to board our buses with any hazardous materials, including fuel oil, gasoline, auto batteries, fuel containers – even empty ones, etc.
- No passengers will be allowed to board wearing roller blades.
