  • DATE: Friday, July 15th, 2016
    DURATION: 2 months
AFFECTED AREA: Northbound Cass between Michigan & Wisconsin

Due to stops westbound in front of Northwestern Mutual being inaccessible and no traffic control at the intersection of Cass & Wisconsin, all service using Cass northbound from Michigan will detour as follows :

Use Michigan to Van Buren, North on Van Buren to Wisconsin, West on Wisconsin and regular route.

  • Due to construction at Northwestern Mutual, the west bound stops at Cass & Wisconsin and the midblock stop on Wisconsin between Cass & Van Buren will be moved one block west for the next 2 months.

Routes 14, Gold, 31, 44, 49, 79, 137, & 143 will all stop at the route 14 stop located midblock westbound on Wisconsin between Van Buren & Jackson.

Routes 12, 40, 43, 46, 48, & 90 will all stop at the Route 12 stop located midblock westbound on Wisconsin between Van Buren & Jackson.

  • Update, July 29th: The sale and demolition of the Downtown Transit Center means changes for several MCTS routes that run through Downtown Milwaukee. The new routes will allow riders improved access to the Milwaukee Intermodal Station (Route 12) and a direct route to grocery stores, restaurants and the Lakefront for people living on the west side (Route 33). The new routing also clears up some bus congestion along Wisconsin Avenue. For maps and additional information, please click here.

July 13th: Beginning August 28, 2016, several routes will see some changes through Downtown Milwaukee because of the closure and demolition of the Transit Center. Check back here for more specific information on stops impacted and new routing.

  • DATE: April 4th through September 5th, 2016
DURATION: EVERY WEEKDAY AFTERNOON GAME (12 times during season)
    AFFECTED AREA: I-94 Westbound

Due to heavy traffic on westbound I-94 after Milwaukee Brewers afternoon games, the Route 44 and 79 must make this mandatory detour - hopefully providing better service to our passengers and maintaining the schedule. The detour is as follows:

    Route 44 Flyer PM trips:
Continue west on Wisconsin Avenue to 68th Street, south (left) to O’Conner Street, west (right) to regular route.

    Route 79 Flyer PM trips:
Continue west on Wisconsin Avenue to 87th Street, north (right) to Watertown Plank Road, west (left) to regular route.

  • Attention MCTS Freeway Flyer & UBUS Riders

Pertains to customers who Ride ONLY local streets on a Freeway Flyer Route

Effective Monday, September 29, 2014, the Milwaukee County Transit System will be implementing a new policy that will require any person riding on a Freeway Flyer route – even just a short segment of the route- to pay the Freeway Flyer fare.

This will NOT affect most riders and fares are NOT changing. Riders will still pay with a valid pass (i.e. CVP, U-PASS), Weekly/Monthly pass with cash premium, or the cash fare of $3.25 adult/$1.60 reduced.

In the past, MCTS was able to accommodate riders who rode Freeway Flyers for just a short distance by charging them a regular local fare ($2.25 adult cash or $1.1.0 reduced). MCTS will no longer be able to provide this service.

We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your cooperation as we implement this policy.

Note: The $0.35 zone fare still applies for passengers who board or alight Route 79 in Waukesha County.
