Service Alerts for Route 79
  • On September 8th, the new Watertown Plank Road Park & Ride Lot will open at the intersection of Watertown Plank Road and Swan Boulevard. 

    Please note: as of September 8th, the Route 79 will no longer stop at Mayfair Collection and will instead stop at the new Watertown Plank Park & Ride Lot.

  • EFFECTIVE DATE: Monday, June 15, 2015
    DURATION: 5 months
    AFFECTED AREA: Layover/bus stop at the Pilgrim Road Park-n-Ride

    Due to the reconstruction of the bus stop/layover island as part of the Pilgrim Road Project, the bus stop/layover will be temporarily relocated to the north end of the Park-n-ride lot.

    I-94 Westbound at 68th Street                           

    Due to I-94 Westbound lanes being reduced to two lanes for the Zoo Interchange Core Project at 68th Street, the Route 79 PM Flyer Trips may experience heavy traffic delays. If the freeway is backed up the detour is as follows: 

    Route 79 Westbound PM Flyers

    • West on I-94
    • Exit Hwy 41 North 308 C
    • North on Hwy 41
    • Northwest (Left) on Lisbon Avenue
    • West (Left) on Burleigh Street to regular route
  • Attention MCTS Freeway Flyer & UBUS Riders

    Pertains to customers who Ride ONLY local streets on a Freeway Flyer Route

    Effective Monday, September 29, 2014, the Milwaukee County Transit System will be implementing a new policy that will require any person riding on a Freeway Flyer route – even just a short segment of the route- to pay the Freeway Flyer fare.

    This will NOT affect most riders and fares are NOT changing. Riders will still pay with a valid pass (i.e. CVP, U-PASS), Weekly/Monthly pass with cash premium, or the cash fare of $3.25 adult/$1.60 reduced.

    In the past, MCTS was able to accommodate riders who rode Freeway Flyers for just a short distance by charging them a regular local fare ($2.25 adult cash or $1.1.0 reduced). MCTS will no longer be able to provide this service.

    We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your cooperation as we implement this policy.

    Note: The $0.35 zone fare still applies for passengers who board or alight Route 79 in Waukesha County.
