Milwaukee County Transit System will make several UBUS service changes this fall semester affecting Routes 40U, 49U along with beginning a new route, 42U (6th Street – Port Washington Road UBUS). The changes to 49U and 44U will occur on September 2, 2010 while Route 42U will begin on August 26th which is also the effective date for 40U changes. Effective dates coincide with the first day of fall semester classes to the schools in which they serve.

Also, the route will be extended to MATC South Campus.

  • Achievement of near-zero emissions
  • Industry-best fuel economy

"We are grateful for this opportunity to update our fleet with the latest in ‘green’ technology," said Anita Gulotta-Connelly, MCTS Managing Director. "We are proud of our commitment to not only providing reliable, convenient and safe public transportation services for our riders, but improving to the quality of life of all residents of Milwaukee County with these environmentally-friendly buses." New Bus Interior

In addition to these improvements, the buses will also feature a new exterior and interior color scheme. The exterior paint design is updated to a more modern look, while incorporating the traditional MCTS palette of blue, green and white. The primarily green and blue buses will also retain the ribbon of gold added in 2000 to represent MCTS’s commitment to excellent service and two-time selection as America’s best transit system.

On the inside there will be a noticeable brighter look with the seats blue instead of brown.

The Milwaukee County Transit System is a vital service to the community, connecting 40 million riders each year with jobs, shopping, healthcare, and recreation in Milwaukee County. In 2010, MCTS celebrates 150 years of public transportation in Milwaukee. Find out more at RideMCTS.com.

Be a part of the Bus! Sign the MCTS Community Bus Wrap this Summer - 6/29/2010 2:20:00 PM

We ♥ The Bus, The Bus ♥ Us

Bus riders keep their public transportation system moving and on our 150th year, we wanted a project to show them how much they are appreciated. This unique project gives everyone a one-time opportunity to be even more involved with the Milwaukee County Transit System. At the same time, we hope to attract the attention of those who don’t currently ride the bus and promote the benefits of transit.

Milwaukee County Transit System is asking the community to help with a special full wrap bus project. This is your chance for your name to be on a bus for a year!

Throughout the summer, MCTS will be collecting signatures so individuals can be a part of a unique bus art project. Signatures will fill the letters that make up “We ♥ The Bus ● The Bus ♥ Us.”

Four to six thousand signatures are needed to “fill up” these letters, so MCTS will be attending summer events collecting names which will be added to this design.

In November, one of the new clean diesel buses with near zero emissions will be wrapped in this design, thanks to a donation from Clear Channel Outdoor.

150th Bus Wrap

The following are events we will be attending and collecting signatures:

July 18 -WMSE Backyard BBQ
July 27 – Downtown Appreciation Week
August – Wisconsin State Fair
September - Bay View Bash
