Routes 44 and 44U Detour Expanded Effective 4/23/2014

Effective Wednesday, April 23, 2014, due to construction on 76th Street between Kearny Street and National Avenue, several Route 44 and 44U stops will be temporarily discontinued. The following stops will not be served during this time:

76th and Kearny Streets
76th Street and Greenfield Avenue
84th Street and Greenfield Avenue

 

Routes 40, 43, 46, 48 and 49 Return to Regular Routing Near Milwaukee County Courthouse Effective 4/14/2014

Effective Monday, April 14, 2014, Routes 40, 43, 46, 48 and 49 will return to regular route on 10th Street at the Milwaukee County Courthouse, stopping just north of the 10th Street entrance.

Routes 44 and 44U Detour Effective 4/14/2014

Effective Monday, April 14, 2014, Routes 44 and 44U westbound ONLY will detour due to the closure of the 76th Street bridge over I-94 in conjunction with the Zoo Interchange Project. Detour routing is as follows:

From westbound I-94:
Exit at 68th Street, west on O’Connor Street to 70th Street, south on 70th Street to Main Street, west to 76th Street to regular route.

During this time westbound Routes 44 and 44U will miss two stops. One stop at 73rd and O’Connor Streets and one stop at 76th and O’Connor Streets. Passengers can use alternate stops at 69th and O’Connor Streets or at 70th and Main Streets.

UPDATED APRIL 21, 2014! Please read carefully!
Effective Saturday, April 12, 2014 due to construction associated with the Zoo Interchange Project, a portion of 76th Street between Bluemound Road and Main Street closed and Route 76 buses (ONLY the 76th Street branch) were detoured.

Effective Wednesday, April 23, 2014
, due to an additional project along 76th Street between Main Street and National Avenue, Route 76 - 76th Street buses will follow Route 76 - 68th/70th Street bus routing between Bluemound Road and National Avenue.

Passengers will need to board the Route 76 at comparable stops located as follows:

Along 68th Street between Bluemound Road and 0’Connor Street (north of I-94)

Along 70th Street between Kearny Street and National Avenue (south of I-94)

Passengers boarding between Bluemound Road and National Avenue and traveling southbound should watch destination signs carefully as Route 76 – 68th/70th Street AND Route 76 - 76th Street buses will now be using the same stops.

Also during this time, pedestrians needing to travel over I-94 will not be required to pay a fare when boarding any Route 76 bus between Bluemound Road and Main Street. This is to help ensure public safety, accessibility and mobility during the Zoo Interchange Project and is sponsored by the Wisconsin Department of Transportation. Please note if a transfer is requested the passenger must pay full fare.

Please note: The detoured portion south of Main Street on 76th Street is a separate construction project, so it is NOT included in the “Free Ride” zone.

Special Message Regarding Route 57 During Bridge Work

In early March the schedule for Route 57 was adjusted to accommodate bridge work on 33rd Street. Due to changes regarding that project since the completion of those schedules, times on the Route 57 schedule have since been adjusted. The below times have been updated to reflect those changes as of March 31, 2014.

Route 28 No-Fare Zone During Construction Effective 3/2/2014

Beginning Sunday, March 2, 2014 due to construction on 108th Street (Hwy 100), individuals needing to travel on 108th Street between Bluemound Road and Theodore Trecker Way will not be required to pay a fare while on a Route 28 bus. This is to help ensure public safety, accessibility and mobility during the project and sponsored by the Wisconsin Department of Transportation. Please note if a transfer is requested the passenger must pay full fare.

Route 28 buses will not detour at this time, however delays may be possible. Please watch for signs in the area and click here to view a map.

Possible Delays due to Closure of Downtown Transit Center Effective 2/18/2014

Effective February 18, 2014, due to the temporary closure of the Downtown Transit Center, several routes that serve the downtown area may be delayed and slightly detoured. Thank you for your patience.

UPDATED! Route 31 Changes Effective 1/5/2014

Effective Sunday, January 5, 2014, in preparation of the closure of Watertown Plank Road under US-45 as part of the Zoo Interchange Project, Route 31 will begin operating a new schedule. We apologize for the short notice, but MCTS was just recently notified of the date.

New schedules marked with an effective date of “January 2014” will be available in information racks and on buses beginning Thursday, January 2, 2014. The new schedule is also available for preview on RideMCTS.com.

UPDATED 1/2/2013: Once Watertown Plank Road is closed, which should happen at 9:30 pm, Sunday, January 5, 2014, the Route 31 will detour as follows:

Westbound Detour Routing
West on Watertown Plank Road, north on Discovery Parkway, southwest on Swan Boulevard and continue south to Watertown Plank Road and west to regular route.

Eastbound Detour Routing
From Innovation Drive: north on Swan Boulevard, continue northeast to Discovery Parkway and south to Watertown Plank Road and east to regular route.

Once Watertown Plank Road is closed pedestrians needing to travel on Watertown Plank Road between Innovation Drive and 92nd Street will not be required to pay a fare while on a Route 31 bus. However, if a transfer is requested the passenger must pay full fare. Please watch for signs in the area and click here to see a map. 

Route 79 Schedule Correction Effective 12/8/2013

On the printed Route 79 schedule with an effective date of December 8, 2013, there is a misprint. The 7:57am time listed under weekdays to Downtown (Eastbound) should read 7:37 am. Please note the online version of that schedule is correct. We apologize for any confusion and we thank you for riding with us.

Route 27 Detour Update Effective 11/4/2013

Effective Monday, November 4, 2013, (this start date is dependent on weather) due to construction, 27th Street is going to be closed SOUTHBOUND between Highland and St. Paul and the Route 27 will detour as follows:

East on Highland to 26th Street, south to Wisconsin Avenue, west to 28th Street, south to St. Paul, east to 27th Street, south to regular route.

Please note that NORTHBOUND Route 27 buses will return to regular routing on 27th Street once southbound is closed.

Routes 40, 43, 44U, 46 and 48 May Experience Delays During Closures Related to the I-794 Lake Freeway / Hoan Bridge Project

Effective Monday, November 4th, 2013, (note this effective date may change if the ramp closures date changes - check back for updates) work in conjunction with the I-794 Lake Freeway / Hoan Bridge Project will affect several Freeway Flyers, however no bus stops will be affected. The I-794 East exit to Lincoln Memorial Drive will close as well as the Lincoln Memorial Drive southbound entrance ramp to I-794 East (Southbound) until further notice. Routes 40, 43, 44U, 46 and 48 will most likely experience delays. Additionally, Routes 44U and 48 will use detour routing during this time, however no bus stops will be affected.

We appreciate your patience during this time and we will monitor buses throughout this project and update passengers with any new information as it becomes available.

Route 79 Watertown Plank Park-Ride Lot Closure 11/4/2013

Effective November 4, 2013, due to the closure of Watertown Plank Park-Ride Lot for construction in conjunction with the Zoo Interchange project, Route 79 will serve a new park-ride lot, just north of Burleigh Street, east of US Hwy 45 and west of 114th Street at the Mayfair Collection. To get to the new lot, take US Hwy 45 north to Exit 43.

Passengers may also use Route 44 (National Flyer) service from the State Fair Park-Ride Lot, located on 76th Street at Kearney. To get there take I-94 east to Exit 306 (84th Street).

Routes 80 and GreenLine Bus Stop Relocation at Airport Effective 10/28/2013

Effective Monday, October 28, 2013 due to remodeling of the baggage claim area at Mitchell International Airport, the bus stop for Route 80 and the GreenLine will be relocated until further notice. The new stop with be at the north end of the ticketing drive, just north of the US Airways area.

Route 64 Bus Stop Changes at Southridge Effective 11/1/2013

Effective Friday, November 1, 2013, Route 64 will no longer serve the bus stop location near Sears at Southridge. The stop will be moved to the existing Route 46 stop near Pyramax Bank. Please note that Route 64 buses will now layover on Grange Avenue east of Northway BEFORE reaching Southridge.
We are currently working to provide a better solution for service near Southridge and we will update passengers of any changes during the process. Please watch for signs in the area and click here to see a detailed map. Note that all other Route 64 stops in the area will continue to be served as usual.

Routes 14, 55 and 76 Bus Stop Changes Near Southridge Effective 11/1/2013

Effective Friday, November 1, 2013, Routes 14, 55 and 76 will no longer serve the bus stop location near Sears at Southridge. The stop will be moved to the existing Route 46 bus stop near Pyramax Bank. Please note that Route 14, 55 and 76 buses will now layover at 74th Street and Holmes Avenue BEFORE reaching Southridge.
We are currently working to provide a better solution for service near Southridge and we will update passengers of any changes during the process. Please watch for signs in the area. During this time new stops have been added and some other stops in the area have been discontinued due to routing changes (all other stops in the area will continue to be served as usual). Route 46 Stop Moved Near Southridge Effective 11/1/2013

Effective Friday, November 1, 2013, Route 46 buses will no longer be permitted to stop on Southridge property. The Route 46 stop will be removed from its current location near Pyramax Bank. See the following new and existing alternate stop locations and a detailed map here.

Special Message Regarding Temporary Stops Near Milwaukee Regional Medical Center

Beginning in October, due to work in conjunction with the Zoo Interchange project near the Milwaukee Regional Medical Center (near the area between 85th Street and Innovation Drive), bus stops are expected to move frequently. To assist passengers with locating temporary bus stops as they move to accommodate construction, MCTS will be marking the stops with 10 foot tall feather banners like the one pictured below. During this time, please board stops at these banners.

Routes 44 and 44U Bus Stop Change Effective 9/3/2013

Effective Tuesday, September 3, 2013 the regular bus stop at State Fair park-ride lot will be removed due to construction. During this time, please board buses near the southwest corner of 76th Street and Main/Adler Street (near southeast corner of the lot).

Route 54 Bus Stop Change Effective 8/25/2013

Effective Sunday, August 25, 2013 the Route 54 will no longer stop in the Pick ‘n Save lot at 108th and Cleveland until further notice. Nearby Route 54 stops are as follows:

Westbound: at 10740 W. National (near Office Max)
Eastbound: on 108th St. at Cleveland

RedLine and RS4 Bus Stop Change Effective 8/25/2013

Effective Sunday, August 25, 2013 the RedLine and RS4 Routes will have a bus stop change until further notice. The bus stop that is currently located at the west end of the route (Capitol Drive and 124th Street) will be moved across the parking lot to the front of Pick ‘N Save. Signs will be posted at the new bus stop. We apologize for any inconvenience.

Route 49U Bus Stop Change Effective 9/3/2013

Effective Tuesday, September 3, 2013 the 49U will no longer serve the Green Bay Road Park-Ride Lot. Please use the Brown Deer East Park-Ride Lot, on Brown Deer Rd., west of I-43. We apologize for any inconvenience.

Route 49 Bus Stop Change Effective 8/25/2013

Effective Sunday, August 25, 2013, Route 49 will no longer serve the Green Bay Road Park-Ride Lot. Please use one of the alternate bus stops located on Green Bay Road at Deerwood Dr., Rivers Edge Circle, Schroeder Drive or Brown Deer Road.

Route 35 (35th Street) Southbound - Detour Effective 7/2/2013

AFFECTED AREA: 35th Street between Scott and Greenfield Avenue (SOUTHBOUND ONLY)

Due to sewer work in the southbound lanes of 35th Street between Scott and Greenfield
Avenue the southbound Route 35 (35th Street) will detour as follows:

West (R) on National to 40th street, south (L) to Greenfield Avenue, east (L) to 35th street, south (R) to regular route.

During the detour, the southbound bus stops located on 35th Street at Scott, and on 35th Street and Greenfield Avenue will not be served.

Please board buses on 35th Street at National Avenue or on the southwest corner on 35th Street at Greenfield Avenue.

Route 31 Detour Effective 5/13/2013

Effective Monday, May 13, 2013, eastbound Route 31 buses will detour to avoid delays due to construction. During this time, westbound buses will continue to serve westbound stops along Watertown Plank Road, Mayfair Road, Research Drive and Innovation Drive as usual. Eastbound detour routing is as follows:

Eastbound Only: From the layover on Innovation Drive, buses will continue on Innovation Drive to Watertown Plank Road and east on Watertown Plank Road to regular routing.

Please view this map to see which eastbound stops will no longer be served and where new temporary bus stops will be located during this time.

Routes 10 and 67 Detour Effective 10/1/2012

Effective Monday, October 1, 2012, due to work in conjunction with the Zoo Interchange Project, 95th Street will be closed between Wisconsin Avenue and Bluemound for an extended period. Routes 10 and 67 will detour as follows:
ROUTE 10
Westbound: Continue west on Wisconsin Avenue to 97th Street, south to Bluemound, west to regular route.
Eastbound: North on 97th Street to Wisconsin Avenue, east to regular route.
ROUTE 67 VIA 92nd Street Trips:
Northbound: Continue west on Bluemound to 97th Street, north to Wisconsin Avenue, east to regular route.
Southbound: Continue west on Wisconsin Avenue to 97th Street, south to Bluemound east to regular route.

Important UBUS Service Dates

The following is the UBUS service schedule during spring break for the 2014 spring semester. Please read carefully:

While UWM is on spring recess from Monday, March 17, 2014 through Friday, March 21, 2014, the 44U and 49U will NOT be operating.

Also, when UWM is on spring recess and MATC is in session, the 40U will run the exam/break schedule from Monday, March 17, 2014 through Friday, March 21, 2014.

The 40U, 44U and 49U will resume regular service Monday March 24, 2013.

The 40U, 44U and 49U will continue to run regular schedules during MATC’s spring break from Friday, April 11, 2014 through Friday, April 18, 2014. The 42U will NOT run while MATC is on break.
