Minor Fare Increase Goes in Effect on January 2, 2018

Milwaukee, WI – For the first time since it was introduced more than two years ago, the M•CARD Adult Fare is increasing from $1.75 to $2. Even with the small increase, the M•CARD fare is still less expensive than the cash fare of $2.25. The New Freedom Pass is also increasing to $1 a day and the Paratransit Fare is increasing from $3.50 to $4. All fare changes go into effect January 2, 2018.

The cost of 1-Day, 7-Day and 31-Day Passes, as well as the GO Pass are staying the same, meaning most riders will not see any changes.

Even with the increase, riding transit is still a great way to save money. According to studies from the American Public Transportation Association (APTA), people who ride public transit instead of driving can save more than $9,000 a year.
