Three MCTS Bus Drivers Honored at Black Excellence Awards


MILWAUKEE — Three Milwaukee County Transit System (MCTS) bus drivers were among those honored on Friday, February 28, 2020 at the 35th annual Black Excellence Awards in Milwaukee.

  • Chanaye Brown
    • Chanaye Brown helped save residents from a burning apartment in Milwaukee on January 5, 2019. She spotted the flames, called for help, notified residents, rushed into the building and even tried using a fire extinguisher to put out the fire. Click here to see the whole story.
  • Cressida Neal
    • Cressida Neal was driving the RedLine early on July 5, 2019 when she spotted a toddler alone near Capitol and Humboldt in Milwaukee. He was barefoot, scared and crying. Cressida brought the little one on board, gave him water and comforted him until police officers arrived. Click here to read more.

The Black Excellence Awards are presented by the Milwaukee Times weekly newspaper. The event honors outstanding local individuals who have personally and professionally influenced their communities. MCTS congratulates all of this year's award winners for the well-deserved recognition.
