Meet Expert MCTS Rider: Javon

MILWAUKEE - Some lucky members of the MCTS team got to hang out with Javon this week at the annual White Cane Safety Day celebration in Milwaukee.

You may recognize Javon, who is blind, from his appearance in a MCTS Excellence video back in November 2018. With the help of a teacher at Gaenslen School, Javon practiced calling the MCTS Customer Service Center to plan a bus trip. He found a caring and kind voice on the other end of the line: Anne, our Customer Service Representative Team Lead. It was the first time that Javon ever dialed the phone on his own.

Fast forward to this week, nearly a year later, and Javon has become an expert bus rider! He rode MCTS with his mother and lots of friends to get to the Milwaukee County Courthouse for a White Cane Safety Day celebration on October 15. The annual event celebrates the achievements of people who are blind or visually impaired -- and also brings attention to the important tool of independence: the white cane.

Anne from Customer Service isn't the only insider who can help Javon learn more about the Milwaukee County Transit System. Javon's grandfather, Johnny Glass, retired from MCTS in 2018 after many years with the company. His expertise will be invaluable as Javon learns everything he needs to know about navigating Milwaukee County!
