May 14: MCTS Update on Coronavirus or COVID-19

Updated May 14, 2020:

You may have seen a lot of news in the last 24 hours about state and local ‘Safer at Home’ orders. Despite any changes to the state’s order, please note that the City of Milwaukee’s order that was issued in March remains in effect until further notice. The 18 municipalities of Milwaukee County have also issued a joint order that is expected to last until at least May 21, 2020.

All of MCTS’s current COVID-19 related policies and procedures remain in effect until further notice:

  • Buses are for essential trips only. This means you should only ride the bus if you are heading to an essential job or critical location like the hospital, grocery store or pharmacy.
  • No leisure riding, loitering, or sleeping is permitted.
  • A maximum of 10 passengers are allowed on a bus at any given time.
  • We recommend that all passengers wear a face mask or cloth that covers your nose and mouth, while on board our buses.
  • Do not ride the bus if you are sick.
  • Follow all CDC guidelines including washing hands often, covering coughs and sneezes, and leave plenty of space between yourself and others.
  • We are still not collecting fare. Continue to enter and exit the bus through the back door only (unless you need help with a mobility device or other ADA accommodation). Be patient and physically distance yourself from others while entering and exiting the bus.
  • Buses that operate Mondays-Fridays are running on a weekday schedule, with the exception of Freeway Flyers, which are still suspended.

Any future updates about MCTS and COVID-19 will be posted at RideMCTS.com/Coronavirus.
