Students Say Thank You to MCTS Drivers

Milwaukee, WI - A group of students at Milwaukee's St. Marcus Lutheran School has a special message for MCTS drivers: Thank You!

The fourth graders are making personalized cards for all MCTS drivers to acknowledge their hard-work and dedication.

“What a wonderful program and gesture from the students at St. Marcus,” said Milwaukee County Executive Chris Abele. “Like so many Milwaukee County workers, MCTS drivers are serving the public every day. It’s great to see them get this much-deserved recognition.”

MCTS driver Keith Whitlow visited St. Marcus on February 21, 2017 to talk to the students and show off his bus, the 12 students even got a chance to take a short ride.

The students are all members of the EarlyAct Club, an Elementary School Level Rotary Club. The EarlyAct Club is sponsored by the Rotary Club of Mequon-Milwaukee Afterhours (RCofMMA) and is a service club for grade school students with a focus on ages 5 to 13. It provides club members with the opportunity to gain an increased awareness and knowledge of their community and the world. Members are encouraged to be caring and helpful as well as recognize the dignity and worth of each person, which builds respect for others.

During the visit, students learned a bit more about how MCTS drivers do their job each day, MCTS bus drivers give more than 150,000 rides to people going to work, school, medical appointments and everywhere MCTS goes.
