MCTS regularly makes service changes to routes four times a year (typically December, March, June, and September). There are many reasons why changes are made, e.g., road construction / long-term detours, new commercial developments, and in response to how people use MCTS. MCTS needs to be efficient with its resources and allocates them accordingly based on ridership trends and route productivity. Ultimately, we want to provide service that is reliable, efficient and focused on best serving our community.

New schedules and maps will be available online June 18. There will also be signage at affected bus stops with information for riders.

The following changes will begin June 28, 2020. Below is a video as well as written details of what you can expect!

Routes with Minor Schedule Adjustments:

The following routes will have minor schedule adjustments that will make it easier for our drivers to run on schedule and get you to your destination as quickly as possible: 12315256576080, & PurpleLine

Major Route Changes:

  • Route 14:  Making Service Faster
Southbound Route 14 trips that currently turn south on S. 43rd Street, serve the bus stop on the island, then turn west on Oklahoma Avenue, then turn southwest back to Forest Home Avenue, will instead have a faster routing.  Effective June 28th, southbound Route 14 will stay on Forest Home and serve a new bus stop on Forest Home south of Oklahoma to then continue southwest on Forest Home.

    • Green dots = Stops served by the Route 14 as of June 28
    • Red dots = Stops no longer served by the Route 14 as of June 28
  • Route 21:  Simplifying and Providing More Service
Route 21 trips that currently provide service on Booth Street, Meinecke Avenue or Humboldt Boulevard will be straightened out and simplified to provide more service to all riders on this route.  An upcoming City of Milwaukee construction project will prevent buses from using this routing.  Effective June 28th, Route 21 will stay on North Avenue and operate around Kilbourn Reservoir Park and serve new bus stops at North & Weil.  The time saved via the shorter routing made it possible to provide more buses on the route throughout the day.

  • Route 53:  New Destination Sign
Eastbound Route 53 trips will now display a destination sign reading “53 TO KINNICKINNIC”, but the actual route will still terminate at Bay Street.

  • Route 67:  Simplifying Service
Northbound trips on Route 67 that currently provide service on Servite Drive between N. 76th Street and Brown Deer Road will be permanently re-routed.  Servite Drive is being reconstructed by the City of Milwaukee into two dead-end cul-de-sacs.  As a result, northbound Route 67 will stay on N. 76th Street and serve a new stop at 76th & Dean, then turn west on Brown Deer Road, serve the bus stop at Brown Deer & Servite and then continue northbound into the Northridge ring road-Granville Station Road and Northridge Lakes Road.  Riders who typically use the northbound stop at 76th & Northridge Lakes (ID #271) will need to use the corresponding southbound stop (ID #6800) instead as the northbound stop will be eliminated.
