MCTS Holds Bus Rapid Transit Open House

Milwaukee, WI -  The Milwaukee County Transit System is holding an open house on Thursday, September 13 from 5 to 8 pm at Bethesda Church, 2810 W. Highland Blvd., Milwaukee, WI 53205. People will be able to preview and comment on the Environmental Assessment (EA) for the East-West Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project.

The Federal Transit Administration (FTA), the lead federal agency, and MCTS, the local lead agency, completed an EA to evaluate the proposed BRT project in the nine-mile East-West corridor.
The East-West BRT is a planned route that will connect thousands of riders every day to major employment, education and recreation destinations through downtown Milwaukee, Milwaukee’s Near West Side, Marquette University, Wauwatosa and the Milwaukee Regional Medical Center.
The project is expected to spark economic development across the corridor and reduce congestion for riders and drivers through the area.

For those who can’t make the open house or who want more information, the EA is posted on the project website at:  http://www.eastwestbrt.com/ea.html

Copies of the EA are also available for review at the following locations:
