Federal Government Provides MCTS with Facemasks for Workforce

MILWAUKEE — The Milwaukee County Transit System (MCTS) recently received a large quantity of reusable facemasks (6,500) for its employees as part of a nationwide effort from the U.S. Department of Transportation and Federal Transit Administration (FTA), alongside the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, to ensure that transportation workers receive the support they need during the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has secured 4.8 million cloth facial coverings to aid approximately 2,200 transit agencies across the country as they implement local, phased reopening plans.

Keeping staff safe is critical to keeping transportation systems running so that people can get to work, school, medical appointments and other important destinations.

MCTS is proud of the measured steps it has taken to protect its workforce and riders over the course of the public health emergency. For more information about our response to COVID-19 and the latest policies and procedures, please visit RideMCTS.com/Coronavirus.
