MCTS to Host Spanish-Language Open House

MILWAUKEE — The Milwaukee County Transit System (MCTS) is hosting a Spanish-language open house on Tuesday, February 19, 2019 as part of its MCTS NEXT public outreach efforts.

The event runs from 4:00PM - 7:30PM  at the Mitchell Street Library, 906 W. Historic Mitchell Street. There will be a presentation about proposed routing options, one-on-one discussions, informational handouts, free food, and raffle prizes.

As part of the MCTS NEXT process, MCTS staff spent months conducting a comprehensive review of the entire transit system. Planners examined and evaluated every route and bus stop across the MCTS service area to identify opportunities for improvements and faster service. This review, in addition to feedback gathered since the summer of 2018, helped planners create two proposed routing options.

The upcoming open house is an opportunity for Spanish-speaking members of the community to learn more about the project and weigh in on the proposals.

Based on all feedback received, MCTS planners will soon create a final proposed route map and present it to the public and Milwaukee County Board for approval. If approved, the changes would take place in 2020.

Transit systems across the country that have gone through similar reviews have seen ridership increase and customer satisfaction improve.
