EFFECTIVE DATE: Tuesday, September 6, 2016
DURATION: September 6th through September 23rd (18 days)
EFFECTED AREA: Watertown Plank Road under I-41 (Zoo Freeway)
Milwaukee County Transit is working with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation to provide free rides during the sidewalk closure under I-41 (Zoo Freeway) on Watertown Plank Road. This is being done to provide a safe route for pedestrians to travel in the area during the construction of the new interchange.
• Starting September 6, 2016 with the closing of the sidewalks on Watertown Plank Road, passengers can board westbound at Discovery Parkway (stop 6783) and eastbound buses at Children’s Court (stop 6697), without paying a fare.
• No transfers will be offered in this free ride zone. If passengers boarding in this area need a transfer, they can pay on the bus they are transferring to.
Some of our routes changed Sunday, August 28th, 2016.
The changes went into effect as part the route updates we do four times a year (Spring, Summer, Fall and Winter).

AFFECTED AREA: Northbound Cass between Michigan & Wisconsin
Due to stops westbound in front of North Western Mutual being inaccessible and no traffic control at the intersection of Cass & Wisconsin, all service using Cass Street northbound from Michigan Street will detour as follows:
Use Michigan to Van Buren, North on Van Buren to Wisconsin, West on Wisconsin and regular route.
Update, July 29th: The sale and demolition of the Downtown Transit Center means changes for several MCTS routes that run through Downtown Milwaukee. The new routes will allow riders improved access to the Milwaukee Intermodal Station (Route 12) and a direct route to grocery stores, restaurants and the Lakefront for people living on the west side (Route 33). The new routing also clears up some bus congestion along Wisconsin Avenue. For maps and additional information, please click here.
July 13th: Beginning August 28, 2016, several routes will see some changes through Downtown Milwaukee because of the closure and demolition of the Transit Center. Check back here for more specific information on stops impacted and new routing.
