What you need to know

  • The pilot is available for all Transit Plus riders, including those who use mobility devices. If you are not a Transit Plus rider, click here to find out how to become a Transit Plus client.
  • The Same Day Pilot offers trips vital to health, employment, and wellbeing that could not be scheduled the day before. This is not designed to be a backup for Transit Plus vans. If you have a ride booked on Transit Plus, you may not book the same ride on the Same Day Pilot.
  • Riders can pay for their ride with cash when baording the van. Pay the exact $10 fare to the driver when the vehicle arrives. Drivers will not make change.
  • Pay with a debit or credit card on the Transit Plus Same Day app or by calling 414-946-6318. Credit and debit card payments are not accepted on the van.

  • Service details:
    • Operates 7 days a week.
    • Rides are provided within Milwaukee County.
    • Trip requests can be made between 8 a.m. and 5:59 p.m.
    • Book your ride in the app or call when you are ready to travel.
    • Riders should be picked up within an hour of their ride being booked.
    • The fare is $10 for each one-way trip. If you have a PCA on your Transit Plus card, your PCA rides for free. One companion is allowed for an additional $10.
    • Each van has capacity to transport one mobility device. If you and your companion or PCA both require space for a mobility device, the ride will require two vans.
    • You must show the driver your Transit Plus ID card when boarding the vehicle.

NOTE: This is a pilot program. The parameters may change to optimize the service.

Where can I go with this program?

This pilot is for travel within Milwaukee County and operates 7 days a week. The Same Day Pilot can be used for trips vital to health, employment, and wellbeing that could not be scheduled the day before. *** Some recreational trips may not qualify for this program.

Who qualifies for this program?

All Transit Plus riders including those who use mobility devices.  

What kind of program is this?

This is a pilot program. The program parameters may change to optimize the service. The program will run for 1 year or until funding runs out. Make sure Transit Plus has a valid email address to receive program updates.  

How much does a ride cost? Can a PCA ride with me?

The fare is $10 for each one-way trip. If you have a PCA on your Transit Plus card, your PCA rides for free. One companion is allowed for an additional $10. You must show the driver your Transit Plus ID card when boarding the vehicle.

How do I pay for a ride?

Add a debit, credit or pre-paid credit card on the Transit Plus Same Day app or call 414-946-6318 to add a payment method over the phone. Exact cash fare will also be accepted when you board the vehicle. Transit Plus tickets will not be accepted on the vehicle.

How do I book a ride?

Book your ride using the Transit Plus Same Day app. If you are unable to use the app you may call 414-946-6318. Rides can be booked between 7 a.m. and 5:59 p.m. Rides are provided on demand.  Contact Via when you are ready to travel. Via will have up to one hour from the time of booking to pick you up. Riders are allowed up to six (6), 1-way trips per month.

What else do I need to know about this program?

Rides will be shared or private based on specific trip details. Via will make this decision. This service is not to be used as a backup for Transit Plus vans. Clients are not allowed to book rides on both services at the same time. If it is determined that you are not using the service as intended, you may be removed from this pilot.
