About the I-94 East-West Project
The I-94 East-West project covers approximately 3.5 miles of I-94, between 70th Street and 16th Street, in Milwaukee County. This seven-year long project will modernize the corridor by improving safety, replacing aging infrastructure and reducing congestion. For more information about the I-94 East-West Project, visit the Wisconsin Department of Transportation’s project website.
Impacts to Bus Service
MCTS is alerting riders of service impacts throughout the duration of this seven-year megaproject.
Given its broad scale and timeline, closures will be introduced in stages. And while one throughfare is closed, another will reopen. MCTS is working with project leaders to plan for and give advance notice of Transit impacts throughout.
At varying stages, corridors with anticipated congestion and/or detour impacts include:
-
Wisconsin Avenue - Route 30 and CONNECT 1 BRT
-
16th Street - Route 24
-
27th Street - PurpleLine
-
35th Street - Route 35
-
43rd Street/Miller Park Way/WI175 - Route 74
