Community Involvement

MCTS is a long-time sponsor of the following community events.

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Birthday Celebration

Since 2014, MCTS has been a proud partner and sponsor of the Marcus Center for the Performing Arts’s Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Birthday Celebration. The event has been a community staple since 1985. As a sponsor, MCTS features elementary, middle and high school student winners of the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Art Contest as part of our Bus Shelter Art Project gallery.

Cesar Chavez Birthday Celebration

From the success of the Annual Dr. King Birthday Celebration, the Marcus Center introduced the Cesar Chavez Birthday Celebration in 2020. MCTS also sponsors this event by featuring the winning artwork featuring this civil rights hero in our Bus Shelter Art Project gallery.

Juneteenth Day Parade & Festival

Milwaukee hosts one of the longest-running Juneteenth Day celebrations in the nation. Locally, MCTS has been a sponsor of Northcott Neighborhood’s Annual Juneteenth Day Parade and Festival since 2004.

Human Trafficking Awareness & Prevention

Human trafficking happens all around us, every day of the year. Public transportation, including train and air travel, are often used to deliver people to customers. From bus shelter ads to training for bus operators, MCTS is working with several local groups and organizations to bring more awareness of this issue.

Teen Ridership Initiative

MCTS’s Teen Ridership Initiative aims to engage and encourage Milwaukee County’s young people, ages 14 to 18, to have a voice in how public transportation impacts them and their daily travel needs. Learn how you can be part of our Transit Teen Advisory Board here

Milwaukee Pride Bus & Pride Celebration

Since 2021 Milwaukee County Transit System has proudly sponsored a wrapped Pride Bus to celebrate and honor our diverse LGBTQ+ community. The Pride Bus serves as a vibrant symbol of inclusivity and acceptance that will be carried throughout the year.
