MCTS Driver Finds a Runaway Girl

placeholder

On a dreary winter night, the kind that makes everything feel heavier and quieter, MCTS Operator Yanitza M. was out on her route doing what she always does, keeping Milwaukee moving safely.

A 12-year-old girl boarded the bus. After a few moments, she approached Yanitza and asked for help finding a 24-hour shelter.

It was not a routine situation. It was a moment that needed care and attention right away.

Yanitza responded without hesitation. She contacted MCTS Dispatch and clearly relayed the situation so support could be arranged. She stayed with the girl, making sure she felt safe and supported while waiting for help to arrive.

The girl took a seat on the bus and remained there, watching the winter night pass outside the windows while she waited quietly for assistance.

Soon, an MCTS Route Supervisor arrived on scene. The transition was handled with care and coordination, ensuring the girl was safely connected to the right resources.

She was then taken off the bus and guided toward shelter and support.

What could have been an uncertain and vulnerable night became something safer because someone noticed, acted quickly, and stayed engaged until help arrived.

Thank you, Yanitza, for your compassion, kindness, and dedication to MCTS Excellence.
