Milwaukee County Transit System (MCTS) is operated by Milwaukee Transport Services, Inc. (“MTS”), a quasi-governmental instrumentality of Milwaukee County that is responsible for the management and operation of the transit system.
The MTS Board of Directors manages business and affairs oversight for MCTS, while policy and budgetary matters of transit are addressed collectively through the County Executive and Milwaukee County Board of Supervisors.
Milwaukee County Transit System (MCTS) operates under the oversight of Milwaukee County Department of Transportation (MCDOT). MCDOT is responsible for managing and coordinating the County's transportation programs and ensures that MCTS aligns with county policies, goals and budget priorities established by county leadership.
Day-to-day operations are led by MCTS’s President & Chief Executive Officer, supported by a leadership team that manages transportation and paratransit operations, service development, procurement, finance, marketing, customer service, and other key functions.
Together, Milwaukee County’s elected officials, MCDOT, the MTS Board and MCTS leadership work to ensure safe, reliable and efficient public transportation for Milwaukee County residents and visitors.
