
High school seniors who live and attend school in Milwaukee County and who plan to attend a trade school, college, or university should complete the scholarship application. Students must also submit a short essay inspired by Parks’ quote, “Each person must live their life as a model for others.”
Entries must be received by Monday, January 5, 2026 at 8:00 a.m. in order to be considered. Three winning students will each receive a $1,000 scholarship toward their educational pursuits, with winners announced in February on Parks’ birthday and Transit Equity Day.
Who Is Eligible:

Must plan to be enrolled in a trade school, college, or university in 2026. For the scholarship winners, MCTS will send the funds directly to the school.
How to Apply:

Students must complete the application, submit an essay and a letter of recommendation from a teacher, guidance counselor or other trusted adult.

Submit an essay (250 words minimum, 500 words maximum) inspired by this Rosa Parks’ quote: “Each person must live their life as a model for others.”
